Innovation in competition

Jakob Antriebstechnik is taking part in the Industrial Production Products of the Year 2026 competition. In an interview with Andreas Mühlbauer, Dr. Arno Wörn, Head of Development and Head of R&D, explains what makes participation particularly attractive for the company and where the focus of product development lies.

Two functions combined

Jakob Antriebstechnik presents the new SKW-KP safety clutch. It is designed as a flexible and backlash-free overload clutch for direct drives and combines a metal bellows clutch attachment with a safety clutch.

How to clamp the largest and heaviest workpieces

Criteria for choosing the right servo clutch

In order to find the right clutch for a drivetrain, a number of factors must be taken into account. The required torque range, the offset and the ambient temperatures of the clutch are particularly important.

This means that a high clamping force can also be generated without tools, as the force amplification is generated via the integrated planetary gear.

Jakob shows how even large, heavy workpieces can be clamped without any problems: The MSP/MSPD power clamping spindles have high clamping forces, a large power clamping stroke and simple operation and assembly.

Elastomer couplings are plug-in, backlash-free and flexible shaft couplings. The connecting or compensating element consists of a plastic star with involute teeth and a high Shore hardness.

Connecting drive components with large center distances is commonplace in mechanical engineering. Spacer couplings are often used as connecting shafts for palletizing and packaging systems as well as linear guides.

Spindle crashes are among the most common accidents when using machine tools. Collision protection systems for machine tools minimize damage and reduce downtime and repair costs in the event of a collision.
