Safety clutch
Release mechanism with metal bellows
Highly dynamic, powerful, controlled drives play an important role in the advancement of automation. The Sky-KS safety clutch series with bellows design provides the appropriate safety element for these powerful drives.
With a maximum release torque of 9,000 Newton meters, the current, ever-increasing performance data is taken into account. Release torques of up to 9,000 Newton meters and operating speeds of up to 8,000 revolutions per minute can be implemented as a special version.
The safety clutches in the Sky-KS series are a combination of the release mechanism with a torsionally rigid, multi-shaft metal bellows. According to the manufacturer, they have proven their effectiveness in a variety of applications, particularly as collision protection in feed axes. They protect the complex and expensive systems from consequential damage with costly machine damage, repairs and downtime.
Key performance features of the Sky-KS series include compact dimensions, low mass moments of inertia, compensation of misalignments between the input and output shafts with low restoring forces and, above all, backlash-free, angularly accurate torque transmission due to the very high torsional rigidity of the metal bellows and the ball detent mechanism. The company also points out the design principle, the high-quality material, the precise production and the numerous possible variations in the shaft-hub connection. The range of applications includes all demanding, highly dynamic servo axes for machine tools through to overload protection for conveyor systems. as
