Power clamping spindles

It's getting exciting with Jakob

Jakob shows how even large, heavy workpieces can be clamped without any problems: The MSP/MSPD power clamping spindles have high clamping forces, a large power clamping stroke and simple operation and assembly.

Workpieces up to around 50 centimetres are usually clamped mechanically and manually using three- or four-jaw chucks, or automatically using pneumatics or hydraulics. However, if the workpieces to be machined are larger, face plates are used. They also hold much larger parts securely in place using claw boxes and clamping spindles.

Users can choose between seven standard thread sizes from TR 50 to TR 200, with which clamping forces of up to 700 kilonewtons can be achieved thanks to the principle of force multiplication using a wedge clamping system. This also achieves self-locking in every clamping position and a high degree of rigidity.

The power clamping spindles are equipped with an internal automatic switchover to allow switching between external and internal clamping. The MSP/MSPD power clamping spindles from Jakob Antriebstechnik have high clamping forces, a large power clamping stroke and simple operation and assembly. This is how the manufacturer aims to ensure maximum operational reliability.

In order to guarantee this in the long term, Jakob recommends (depending on the frequency of the clamping cycles) regular testing once or twice a year. The company offers force measurement systems for this purpose, such as the hydraulic, self-sufficient force transducer HMD. The intelligent FMS clamping claw even allows constant clamping force monitoring while the workpieces are being machined.

The determined data can be sent wirelessly directly to a display device or PC. If the clamping forces deviate by around 25 to 30 percent from the specified target values, an overhaul is required. Maintenance can be carried out directly by Jakob. Alternatively, the manufacturer also offers training courses to certify participants as operating or maintenance personnel. This means that installation and maintenance can be carried out in-house in the future to save time. as
