Soft grippers for delicate foods
Irregularly shaped, fragile, and varying in size and weight: products such as potatoes, baked goods, and dairy products pose challenges for mechanical grippers. Schmalz bridges this gap with two new solutions: the mGrip Basic finger gripper and the SRCU Basic control module.
The mGrip Basic finger gripper uses soft, adjustable finger modules with a specially developed geometry. They adapt to the shape of the items without damaging them. Finger spacing and position can be flexibly adjusted. This makes it suitable for applications involving a variety of products. Advantage of the modular system: Thanks to the integrated fasteners, the finger modules can be quickly removed and repositioned. When the product changes, the configuration changes—not the gripper. This reduces changeover times and lowers investment costs.
The SRCU Basic control module allows manual adjustment of the output pressure via an adjustment knob—and thus variation in grip force. An integrated pressure regulator automatically limits the output pressure, thereby preventing overloading of the fingers and extending the system’s service life. For applications with low product variability and up to 120 picks per minute, the module is a cost-effective and reliable solution. The mGrip Basic finger gripper can also be integrated into custom EOAT solutions: Finger modules and mounting plates can be incorporated into individual gripper systems—providing a flexible foundation for customized solutions featuring proven soft-finger technology.
The mGripedia platform uses more than 100 real-world applications—from croissants to chicken drumsticks—to demonstrate how Schmalz automatically and reliably handles delicate products. Filterable use cases make it easier to find solutions, and expert advice is also available directly upon request.
