Process reliability in injection molding starts with the tool

Two months more machine capacity

In addition to lightweight materials such as aluminum, plastic parts are taking on more and more functions in vehicles, machines and electrical appliances. At the same time, their shapes are becoming increasingly complex. Production cycles are also becoming shorter and shorter, while the number of injection-molded parts per tool is increasing. For mold makers, this results in new requirements for design, development and production.

Trends in tool development

The reduction of the greenhouse gas_{CO2 has}become a global goal that affects all areas of our lives. New fields of application are emerging and existing ones need to be adapted. The development of cutting tools is also affected. Because alternative drives, new lighter materials, energy-saving and resource-conserving concepts are more in demand than ever, but it must also be possible to machine them.

Milling cutter with corner radius and neck relief

With the new MC232 Perform solid carbide milling cutters, Walter is expanding its range to include a milling cutter with a corner radius and neck relief, which allows users to better respond to individual component geometries.

With and without lubrication grooves

Walter offers its TC410 Advance HSS-E tap without lubrication grooves and with lubrication grooves for deeper threads up to 3.5 × DN. The TiN-coated thread former for blind and through-hole threads is suitable for all formable materials in ISO material groups P, M, N as well as for ISO K and S in secondary applications.

With tangentially arranged indexable inserts

In the new Walter boring tools for the automotive sector, the indexable inserts are arranged tangentially. According to the company, this allows the high feed rates of tangential systems to be transferred from milling to drilling.

Richard Harris new CEO of Walter

Change in management at Walter AG: Richard Harris will become the new Chairman of the Management Board on February 4, 2019. He succeeds Mirko Merlo, CEO since 2012, who decided to leave the company at his own request at the end of 2018.

Better geometry

With the A60 and AG60 geometries for small or medium pitches, Walter is completing the MX range of inserts. Like the existing MX geometries, the A60/AG60 inserts are also designed with four cutting edges.

Walter is expanding its MX range of inserts to include the A60 and AG60 indexable insert geometries for small and medium pitches respectively.

Thread former with long service life

With the TC430 Supreme, Walter is presenting a new HSS-E-PM thread former for ISO-P materials. It is available both with and without lubrication grooves, with axial and radial as well as without internal cooling.

Productivity in aluminum: plus 30 percent

With the DC166, Walter is launching a solid carbide step drill for aluminum. The internally cooled special tool is optimized for minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) or cooling with emulsion.

Indexable insert app aims to simplify changing suppliers

With the Insert Converter App, Walter is introducing an app that allows users to replace their machining solution with Walter indexable inserts.
