Better geometry

With the A60 and AG60 geometries for small or medium pitches, Walter is completing the MX grooving insert range. Like the existing MX geometries (CF5 and GD8 for all grooving and parting off operations, RF5 for grooving and copy turning), the A60/AG60 inserts are also designed with four cutting edges.

The geometries for producing 60-degree partial profile external threads in a wide pitch range (0.5 to three millimetres) are particularly suitable for threading operations in confined spaces, for example close to a shoulder and pick-up spindle. In addition, there are general system advantages such as high cost-effectiveness or universal usability of all inserts on the same holder - left and right. The MX system, which is suitable for all materials, enables grooving widths of 0.8 to 3.25 millimetres and grooving depths of up to six millimetres.

A special feature is the plate seat design: the self-aligning, tangential clamping means that the plate is pressed against the contact points when the screw is tightened. A special dowel pin supports the accuracy of fit and prevents incorrect installation. The result is high dimensional accuracy and repeatability. The fact that the contact surface of the panels is not ground during the production of the cutting edge width, meaning that the entire panel thickness is retained, also contributes to the high stability of the MX system. Walter offers special shapes outside the standard range from ten pieces within four weeks. pb
