Indexable insert app aims to simplify changing suppliers

With the Insert Converter app, Walter is introducing an app that allows users to replace their machining solution with Walter indexable inserts. The app is aimed not only at users who have already gained experience with the manufacturer, but also generally at anyone who wants to optimize their machining process, increase tool life and process reliability or improve their productivity.

The search function is deliberately kept simple: the user does not have to click through long menus, instead they can select directly by grade or geometry. All they have to do is enter the grade or chip former they are using - and the app shows them the alternatives. The grades or geometries can vary depending on the material (P, M, K, etc.).

If required, users of the Insert Converter app can obtain additional detailed information, such as the coating process or ISO classification, as well as the insert type or basic shape for ISO geometries. In addition to carbide cutting materials, the app also covers so-called "ISO Advanced Materials", i.e. CBN, PCD, ceramic and cermet. Areas of application include ISO turning, parting and grooving as well as recess turning. sw
