Overvoltage protection
Easy maintenance and commissioning
The new M-LB-2000 system from Pepperl+Fuchs offers overvoltage protection combined with a loop disconnect function for easy maintenance and commissioning.
The system is ideal for applications where only a minimum specification is required. The M-LB-2000 can also be used to upgrade terminal blocks with overvoltage protection. The terminal blocks can be replaced by the modules, which are only 6.2 mm narrow. The one-piece devices are mounted on standard top-hat rails, are approved for applications up to SIL 3 and have ATEX and IECEx certificates up to Zone 1.
The device complements the M-LB-5000 surge protection system from Pepperl+Fuchs. This is equipped with condition monitoring functions and has a diagnostic function. It uses a special algorithm to detect the different load situations that lead to wear of the surge protection. This optimizes the availability of the protection function and therefore also that of the system, while also minimizing maintenance costs. The traffic light display on each protection module minimizes the testing effort, as the fault can be assigned to a specific signal circuit.
This system also offers significant advantages over other solutions when it comes to maintenance. Thanks to the base module on the top-hat rail, removing the protection module does not lead to any signal interruption - a protection module can therefore be replaced without affecting system operation. If the signal circuit is to be deliberately interrupted, for example for insulation tests during commissioning, the protection module is simply plugged in rotated by 180 degrees. In this case, the signal circuit is interrupted by an integrated disconnection function.
