Industrial trucks

Three questions for... Andreas Krinninger

Intralogistics solutions. Digitalization is changing logistics, which is why Linde Material Handling offers consulting services and software applications in addition to its industrial trucks. Andreas Krinninger, CEO, also explains the company's safety philosophy, which aims to reduce accidents at work in goods handling to as close to zero as possible, and the benefits of lithium-ion technology for electromobility.

Andreas Krinninger, Chairman of the Management Board of Linde Material Handling GmbH

Mr Krinninger, digitalization is also changing logistics, vehicles are driving autonomously and fleets are becoming intelligent. How is Linde Material Handling addressing this issue and where is the development heading?
Linde Material Handling is responding to increasing digitalization by consistently evolving from an industrial truck manufacturer to an intralogistics solution provider. As part of this, we are significantly expanding our range of consulting services and software applications. Integrated into the digital supply chain, for example, industrial trucks complete orders in the optimum sequence, by the shortest route, at ideal speed, with maximum efficiency and maximum safety. At the same time, we are using the further development of processors as well as sensor and navigation technologies to automate further warehouse processes with industrial trucks. Our customers benefit from higher process reliability and efficiency.

With "Vision Zero", Linde is pursuing a safety philosophy that aims to prevent 100 percent of accidents. What does this mean?
Every accident is one too many, so prevention is our top priority. At the same time, however, too little attention is still paid to safety. The "Vision Zero - Safety in your world" concept takes a fundamental and comprehensive approach to this challenge. We see the concept as a holistic approach to reducing accidents at work in goods handling to as close to zero as possible. The tools include product-related solutions - such as assistance systems or additional equipment - training programs for employees and managers as well as consulting services. Because with every prevented accident at work, we protect the health of each individual and, in addition, companies achieve considerable efficiency and cost benefits.

Electromobility: Linde relies on lithium-ion technology, what are the advantages?
Over their useful life, lithium-ion batteries have a significantly higher performance compared to lead-acid batteries. This includes an increase in system efficiency of up to 30 percent! Other advantages include fast (intermediate) charging, no need to change batteries, constant power output, long service life and maintenance-free operation. Linde does not simply replace the battery, but has developed its own complete solution consisting of energy management, cell and battery containment together with renowned partners for each model. The lithium-ion battery and vehicle are perfectly matched and have undergone extensive tests and inspections prior to market launch. Linde therefore offers the most efficient and safest solution on the market.
