Interchangeable battery system with lithium technology
Andreas Laubner, a specialist in the field of Auto-ID, is presenting the Powerswap Nucleus rechargeable battery system as a European distributor together with Newcastle Systems from the USA. The lithium iron phosphate battery provides a quiet, permanent 230-volt alternating current supply for eight to twelve hours.
If the battery is exhausted, the user can simply replace it in seconds via "hot swap". There are no gaps in the power supply and there is no need to log off the system, enabling genuine 24/7 operation. The system was developed for industrial applications and has a service life of five to seven years (around 3,000 cycles), according to the company, and is ergonomic and safe. The battery measures 16 x 33 x 16 centimetres and weighs only around five kilograms.
As it is a plug-and-play system, no tools, heavy lifting equipment or maintenance personnel are required to change the battery. The system was developed for all mobile workstations and consists of one to four lithium battery packs, a power docking station with a Schuko connector and the battery charging station (standard or quick charger).
Lithium iron phosphate technology is much more stable than conventional lithium ion or lithium polymer systems. In contrast to these chemicals, lithium iron phosphate batteries pose no potential risk of ignition in the event of overheating or mechanical abuse. as
