Overload clutches

Interruption in the shortest possible time

Safety clutches from KBK Antriebstechnik enable precise adjustment of the release torque and thus reliably protect machines against overload damage.

Overload clutches from KBK are suitable for all applications where high productivity is required or where components and employees need special protection. The clutches mechanically decouple the drive and output train from each other as soon as the torque set on the clutch is exceeded. In this way, overloads and the resulting damage to the drive are avoided or at least significantly reduced.

KBK uses disk springs with a degressive characteristic curve and balls as locking elements for its safety clutches. This design enables particularly precise adjustment of the overload torque and causes the torque transmission to be interrupted within milliseconds of the overload occurring. KBK overload clutches are designed according to the ball detent principle, which enables backlash-free and repeatable torque transmission. The safety clutches offer machine builders yet another advantage: as they reliably limit the occurrence of overloads, the usual design safety precautions can be reduced.

The drive technology specialists from Klingenberg in Bavaria have four versions of overload clutches in various sizes in their range: two clutch types each for direct and indirect drives. Safety clutches with synchronization and disengagement automatically re-engage once the fault has been rectified, so that machine downtime is kept to a minimum. KBK disengaging overload clutches permanently separate the input and output sides from each other without torque. This clutch is suitable for all applications in which endurance tests are carried out and personnel are not always nearby. Locked safety clutches, on the other hand, only rotate by a few degrees in the event of an overload. They trigger a limit switch that safely switches off the drive. With all KBK overload clutches, the overload torque is set individually for each application.

KBK also offers miniature overload clutches with overload torques of just 0.1 Newton meters. The safety clutches in half-shell design are unique in the world. pb
