Beckhoff equips BMW with IPC technology
PC technology is therefore used globally at the BMW Group. The industrial PCs and multi-touch control panels are used - both for new systems and for system retrofits - for interlinking machines, for access control and for data acquisition, visualization and other PC-based tasks. All product groups from the company's broad IPC portfolio are used here: IP65 Panel PCs CP32xx, ultra-compact Industrial PCs C6030, 19-inch rack-mount Industrial PCs C5240 and multi-touch built-in Control Panels CP29xx.
Standard products are used, some of which have been adapted for optimum retrofitting of existing systems, as well as a customer-specific push-button extension. The product portfolio offers BMW the opportunity to use the latest Intel Core i processors in a wide variety of designs. Thanks to short innovation cycles, future processor generations can also be easily integrated.
The bundling of all development steps at Beckhoff, from motherboard and BIOS development to mechanical adaptation, enables optimal alignment to customer-specific requirements in combination with full control over the value chain, thanks to in-house assembly and production in Verl.
