Lean Production
Item launches learning factory in Hanover
Lean production live: this is the motto of the learning factory at the Item site in Hanover. The companies and factory consultants offer seminars in which participants learn about the most important lean methods, their applications and their positive effects on performance by manufacturing a real product.
What lean methods are there? How can they be applied in practice? And with what results? These and many other questions will be answered at the Hanover Learning Factory. The joint seminar offered by Item and Factory Consultants is aimed at both newcomers and more experienced lean users. In the 150 square meter learning factory, a realistic working environment is shown in which the change from conventional production to lean manufacturing can be easily understood step by step.
The starting point for the training courses is the everyday situation of a traditionally grown company with the typical conditions of production, such as complex material and information sizes and different batch sizes. The production of a real and variant-rich product is mapped as faithfully as possible. Participants learn how to significantly improve the overall system using suitable lean tools such as the 5S method or value stream design. In this way, the positive effects of the lean methods used can be experienced live, internalized and the knowledge gained can later be applied to their own production.
Profile tube system D30 for maximum flexibility
In addition to various equipment for workplace design such as gripper trays and roller conveyors as well as technical accessories, the D30 profile tube system from Item is used in the training factory. The office workstations, the assembly line and also the warehouse were made from the aluminum profiles. The system enables flexible, quick and easy assembly, disassembly and conversion of the stations. This means that the learning factory can also be easily set up at a different location if required, for example on site at a customer's premises. In addition, different training focuses can be set depending on the requirements of the participants.
In the future, visitors will also learn about the possibilities and effects of digitalization and networking on the store floor: plans include the integration of RFID systems for paperless production and the introduction of pick-by-light for order picking. Item is also planning to open a learning factory in other branches. This year's dates in the Hanover learning factory: September 12 and 13, 2018, November 29, 2018. as
