Hard whirled ball screws

At the top for accuracy

With the strategic takeover of its long-standing partner IGT from Schwelm, Dr. Tretter is further expanding its vertical range of manufacture from finishing to the production of screw drives and strengthening its position as a specialist in linear technology. The manufacturer, importer and engineering partner will be able to offer its customers even more customized solutions in the field of ball screw technology in the future.

Hard whirling is a machining process in which the ball raceways are whirled into the already hardened and precision-ground spindle material.

Dr. Tretter's broad experience in finding application-oriented solutions combined with IGT's in-depth manufacturing expertise means that synergies can be increased and the benefits passed on directly to the customer. Hard whirling is a machining process in which the ball raceways are whirled into the already hardened and precision-ground spindle material. This enables a particularly high thread quality to be achieved. Pitch accuracies of T5 as standard and T3 if required can thus be reliably achieved.

By using high-quality primary materials, the hard whirling technology enables the highest surface quality of the raceways. The ball profiles of the nuts are manufactured with precision and are precisely matched to the spindles. Another advantage of hard whirling is the high degree of flexibility with different thread sizes and lengths as well as with different thread geometries.

The manufacturing process enables the machining of various machinable materials as well as rust-resistant solutions. The ends are machined according to customer drawings. With the ground and therefore low-chipping spindle materials as an important basic requirement, Dr. Tretter is able to meet customer requirements in terms of precision at all times.
