Tool changer

Andrea Gillhuber,

For welding and handling robots

Walther-Präzision presented its Walther-Tool-Master tool changer at the Hannover Messe. This allows the tools of welding and handling robots to be changed quickly.

Depending on the application, they can also be equipped with various electrical or fluid transmission elements. Power, fiber optic, signal and ProfiNet cables can be separated just as safely as hydraulic and pneumatic lines.

The features of the tool changers include a low dead weight, a minimum height of 96 mm when coupled and, depending on the version, a load capacity of 25 KN (Tool Master 500), 40 KN (Tool Master 800) or 60 KN (Tool Master 1000). A multi-flange for all common robots is also available, as is a compensation module for centering radial and axial misalignment between the tool and robot. Matched to the tool changer, special tool trays optimize the pick-up of tools at the robot workstation and thus ensure fast and safe storage. Just like the tool changer, the tool tray also has a modular design; both can be equipped with different add-on elements and electrical plugs for different media and tasks.
