Indexable inserts

Andrea Gillhuber,

For processing small sealing lips

Sandvik Coromant is expanding its Coro-Cut 1-2 range to include narrower indexable inserts, especially for grooving small sealing lips in HRSA materials, but also for grooving stainless steel and steel workpieces.

Sealing lips are usually characterized by pockets and grooves with small radii and serve as a gas seal between the rotating and stationary parts of a turbine. Due to the extreme temperatures and pressure differences prevailing there, they are manufactured from HRSA materials. The new 1.5 mm wide Coro Cut 1-2 indexable insert from Sandvik Coromant is available in three grades - GC1105, GC1125 and S05F - for machining even smaller sealing lips with RO geometry. Also new are the updated Coro Turn SL70 cutting heads, which are suitable for indexable insert widths of 1.5 and 2 mm and complement the existing modular range.
