Hannover Messe 2025
PFAS alternatives with high performance
Igus wants to set an example for innovation and sustainability and will be presenting new products at HMI 2025, including PTFE-free materials and products made from recycled material.
Igus has been researching alternatives to PTFE for several years and now offers all standard Iglidur materials as PTFE-free variants. These include the materials Iglidur J, W300, M250, G, X and H. Igus also already offers PTFE-free and PFAS-tested alternatives in other product areas such as linear guides, slewing ring bearings and sliding foils. Tests in the in-house test laboratory on friction and wear behavior show a better performance of the materials with substituted PTFE compared to the PTFE-containing reference. The research into alternatives has therefore provided significant added value.
Following the successful development of the first energy chain made from recycled material in 2022, Igus is now converting the entire catalog range of the standard energy chain series E2.1 to the new recycled material Igumid CG LW. This is made from old energy chains, which are recycled via the company's own "chainge" program, as well as old fishing nets. With this recycled chain series, users can make a contribution to the circular economy for plastics. The recycled E2.1 series is available at the same price as the previous E-chains made from standard material and has identical mechanical properties as well as an 80 percent lowerCO2 footprint compared to the energy chain series made from standard material.
