The Bluetooth-enabled tool is part of the open platform "Hoffmann Group Connected Tools (HCT)" for mobile quality management and can send measured values wirelessly to a PC and to the specially developed HCT smartphone app at the touch of a button. This year, 9,509 entries from 52 nations were submitted for the coveted international iF Design Award.

The HCT electronic torque/angle wrench won over the international 98-member jury with its appealing and functional design: on a high-contrast and viewing-angle stable 2.8-inch TFT color display, the tool shows the value achieved not only as a number, but also on a dial gauge. This means that the user can always keep an eye on the measured value. To ensure that the user does not exceed the maximum tightening value, the tool warns him in good time with a visual signal. A warning tone and a vibration mode can be added as an option.

The core of the "Hoffmann Group Connected Tools (HCT)" platform is the HCT smartphone app. This can be linked to HCT-capable tools such as the electronic Garant torque/angle wrench HCT in order to record, save and manage measurement data wirelessly via Bluetooth. The measured values including the tool serial number, measurement date, unit and all relevant settings can be exported in CSV format for further processing on the PC. It is also possible to configure the HCT torque/angle wrench so that it sends measured values directly to a PC application such as Excel or Word - without any additional software.

The iF Design Award is one of the most important design prizes in the world. It has been awarded annually since 1954 by iF International Forum Design, the world's oldest independent design institution. This year, the competition was held purely digitally for the first time and had a two-stage structure: In the online preselection, the design experts made a pre-selection; only every second exhibit made it to the final voting round.
