Unlocking hidden CAD data potential
With the new version of the Classmate software suite, Simus has increased the user-friendliness and effectiveness of the modules. From structuring and cleansing databases to synchronization with SAP, the tools provide sustainable benefits in design, work preparation, costing, purchasing and master data maintenance.
More and more companies are realizing that they need professional software to improve data quality in their company. This is the basic idea behind Simus Classmate. The Classmate CAD module starts with the databases of common 3D systems: The automatic classification of models and components based on geometry elements and metadata creates order, thus enabling quick access to existing solutions and reducing design effort. To this end, a new feature recognition function has been created for surface selection.
The counterpart for cleansing, structuring and classifying textual databases is called Classmate Data. Its automatic routines can handle extensive master data in just a few steps. Unambiguous data records without duplicates, uniform spellings and formats as well as up-to-date and complete descriptions are implemented sustainably using individually customizable sets of rules. The benefits are correct translations, reliable search results and high data quality for all subsequent digitization steps.
Classmate Plan analyzes CAD models to calculate future manufacturing costs. Based on the geometry and text information, almost all typical mechanical engineering manufacturing processes are recognized. The new version adds injection molding, 3D printing, nibbling and profile bending. The new automatic blank determination function also supports the designer in the development process. Based on cost information from internal and external sources, components and assemblies are calculated and the results are clearly presented.
The Classmate Finder and Easy Finder search engines locate information in all leading CAD, PDM and ERP systems. The search options range from navigation in the graphically displayed class tree to searching for specific features and similarity searches based on CAD models or sub-areas.
The Classmate SAP modules ensure interaction and synchronization with the leading ERP system for all the tools mentioned. In addition, cross-departmental material master processes can be set up and automated.
