Good cooperation for sure

Safeguarding robot workstations. Schmersal is presenting a coordinated range of safety components and systems for industrial robots. With these products, different robot workstations can be reliably and efficiently safeguarded so that people are protected and the productivity of the systems is increased at the same time.

Optoelectronic safety solutions from Schmersal guarantee economical access protection for robot workstations.

Schmersal has developed various series of safety light curtains and safety light grids that meet different requirements and ensure economical access guarding for robot workstations with a small footprint. A protective field of infrared beams is emitted by the transmitter and evaluated by the receiver. If an object or person interrupts the protective field, a stop signal is triggered immediately to stop the machine.

The safety mats make it possible to monitor entire work areas and not just their access points. They ensure protection against stepping behind, which means that the machine cannot be started while an operator is in the danger zone.

Safety guard locking and control panel
With the highly coded AZM20 RFID guard locking device in combination with the BDF200-SD control panel, individual, ready-to-connect safety solutions can be pre-assembled for the safety doors at robot workstations. Thanks to its integrated RFID technology, the AZM 201 offers tamper protection as required. In the D variant of this solenoid interlock, two safety functions are implemented with one safety switching device. The AZM201-D is therefore particularly suitable for setting up robot workstations. Thanks to the integrated SD interface (SD = serial diagnostics) in the BDF200-SD, the non-safe diagnostic signals of the connected command and signaling devices can also be transmitted to a controller via an SD gateway. The status and diagnostic messages can be used for preventive maintenance and thus contribute to increasing machine availability.

Solutions for signal evaluation
Depending on the complexity of the safety circuits, Schmersal provides different solutions for safe signal evaluation. For smaller robot systems, the multifunctional safety relay modules of the Protect-SRB-E series are ideal, as they cover different applications and are easy to configure.

The modular PSC1 safety controller enables the programming of more complex, individual safety solutions. The PSC1 not only evaluates the safe signals from the connected sensors, it can also forward non-safe diagnostic signals to an automation controller or the IT environment via a standard bus system.

With the PSC1, the user can easily select and set various fieldbus protocols via software using a universal communication interface. This allows, for example, signals to be evaluated that are relevant for avoiding downtimes or increasing system availability. as
