Safety on press brakes

As a complete solution with the Fast Analysis Unit (FAU) in the automation system PSS 4000, the camera-based protection system PSENvip 2 offers maximum safety for press brakes in accordance with EN ISO 12622 and is suitable for both new machines and retrofits. This makes it easier to configure and implement the dynamic muting process on press brakes or press brakes. The new function module for dynamic muting is available via the PSS 4000 automation system. In conjunction with the FAU module, tool class, muting end point or protective field modes, for example, can be configured quickly and easily.

Safety functions such as position, speed, braking ramp, overtravel distances and protective field can be monitored. After a successful check, the new function module ensures that dynamic muting is initiated. As there is no need for manual programming work, the press application can be commissioned quickly and safely. This saves time and avoids follow-up costs.

More power for the press

With PSENvip 2, foreign objects are immediately detected in the optical protective field and the pressing process is safely stopped - without compromising productivity. This is because the solution enables optimized operating speeds and higher cycle rates: Thanks to the dynamic muting process, the speed of the upper tool can be continuously adjusted via the dynamic adaptation of the protective field. This is only reduced to the lowest level from the protective zone onwards. Together with the convenient diagnostics, the safe complete solution for bending increases the availability and cost-effectiveness of press applications in forming technology.

System for efficient folding processes

The complete solution comprising PSENvip 2 and the FAU module in the automation system PSS 4000 from Pilz ensures faster processing and, as a result, even faster shutdown of folding processes. The PLC controllers PSSuniversal PLC are used for this in the automation system PSS 4000: PSSuniversal PLC monitors all safety-relevant functions and can also take over standard control functions of the press.
