Fire protection

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Viega solutions with aBG for mixed installations

For years now, fire protection certification for mixed installations for the development of multi-storey buildings has only been possible with a general building approval (abZ) or aBG.

Viega's new general type approval also permits direct combinations of non-combustible line installations and plastic drainage lines for Viega cisterns.

Typical of such installations are, for example, risers made of metal piping systems and plastic pipes branching off from them, as is common in heating or drinking water installations.

The general type approval (aBG) Z-19.53-2258 for the "Viega mixed installation supply" system ensures that risers made of the metal Viega piping systems Profipress, Sanpress, Sanpress Inox, Prestabo and Megapress with an external diameter of up to 54 mm may be combined with Raxofix or Sanfix Fosta connection pipes with an external diameter of up to 32 mm in the floor pipe.

The Viega Raxofix or Sanfix Fosta pipes are connected directly to the T-piece or bend of the metal riser using a Viega push-in fitting. On the top storey, at the end of the metal riser, the transition can be made with a Viega elbow or push-in fitting.

The "Viega Mixed Installation Supply" fire protection system can be installed with zero clearance to all pipe penetration seals. This reduces the space required in the shaft and in ceiling openings.

Significant simplifications thanks to aBG
The aBG Z-19.53-2259 for the "Viega fire protection system for mixed installations in waste disposal" now also makes things considerably easier on the drainage side: non-combustible cast SML continuous lines can now be connected directly or indirectly to non-combustible or combustible floor manifold connection lines with the familiar Viega cisterns.

It is also possible to add additional Viega drainage items, such as bidet and washbasin elements or floor drains and shower channels from the manufacturer, downstream of the floor connection pipe.

This general type approval makes the mixed installation of drainage systems in the area of ceilings much simpler and significantly more economical than before, as this system no longer requires expensive fire protection connectors or collars that are complex to install.
