The pneumatic riveting hammers and riveting presses are ergonomic and easy to operate and cover all common rivet types used in aircraft construction.

Aircraft must be regularly inspected and, if necessary, repaired. Many components are subjected to cyclical loads and high vibrations during flight operations, causing them to fatigue or wear out more quickly. To prevent major damage, various components must therefore be replaced regularly as a preventive measure. Maintenance technicians also repair minor cracks and replace loose rivets.

In the aerospace industry, such maintenance and repair work on sheet metal joints and other metal structures on wings, tail units or fuselages is usually carried out professionally by hand; in many cases, riveting is done manually. The advantages lie in the high flexibility and low costs, the low requirements for preparing the rivet hole, the high reliability and, in principle, the high elasticity and durability of riveted joints.

Where components have to be joined together by riveting, the low-vibration and ergonomic riveting tools of the CP42 series from Chicago Pneumatic can make work easier. Employees and workshops benefit from high productivity and greater work safety. Chicago Pneumatic has numerous pneumatic riveting hammers and riveting presses available for the most common types of rivets, which meet all the strength requirements for the joints.

Hammers for all common aluminum and steel rivets

The riveting hammers are available in seven different versions. They can be used to set all the rivets most commonly found on aircraft structural components: Aluminum rivets with shank diameters up to 3/8" as well as steel rivets with diameters up to 5/16". The riveting hammers in the CP42 series follow the standard aviation designations of 1X

The riveting hammers are compact and lightweight, with the smallest model weighing just over 1 kg. The sensitive trigger makes it easy to control the riveting process and the slim handle is also suitable for working with gloves.

Chicago Pneumatic also had the avoidance of vibrations in mind when developing the pneumatic riveting presses. These three pneumatic riveting machines from the CP4210 and CP4220 series differ from each other primarily in terms of length and weight: the smaller machines are suitable for rivet diameters from 3/32" for aluminum rivets, while the most powerful process rivets with diameters up to a maximum of 3/16" (aluminum) or 5/32" (steel).

The powerful pneumatic riveting presses are characterized by low vibrations (less than 2.5 m/s2) and a low noise level of less than 72 dB (A). Both of these features make working with the devices very comfortable. The handy housings are made of aluminum, the lever for clamping the handle is made of steel, which contributes to the durability of the tool.
