Linear guides

The momentum is increasing

Systems in the semiconductor industry work with cycle times of one second or less. High dynamics are therefore required of the pick-and-place units. NSK has replaced an existing linear motor with a combination of ball screw drive and miniature linear guide on behalf of a manufacturer of placement systems.

This made it possible to increase the dynamics. Miniature linear guides from the PU series were developed for demanding applications, for example in medical technology devices or in the semiconductor industry. Constant friction ratios enable uniform movement. An improved seal prevents abrasion from entering the environment. This means that the series is also suitable for clean room applications, provided an appropriate lubricant is used. Another positive feature is the low weight, which is important for highly dynamic applications: the guide travels at a speed of 2.5 meters per second and an acceleration of 40 g. A stroke of 40 millimetres is achieved at the same time. This involves a stroke of 40 millimetres. pb
