The Linear Motioneering Tool retains the planning calculations, while additional product lines, interactive navigation, extended global support and optimization for operation on mobile devices have been added. "Designers of linear drive systems are under increasing pressure to bring competitive products to market quickly," explains Alexander Schollin, Product Line Specialist EMEA & Asia at Thomson - Systems Group. "Our mission is to help them do this by making system selection as quick and easy as possible. Our improved online selection functions allow them to specify linear actuator units."

The Linear Motioneering Tool now also includes an improved Redimount mounting kit. This gives design planners more options. In the past, valuable time was spent finding the optimum flange adapter and laboriously assembling the individual components supplied. Today, Redimount is the standard for Thomson systems, so motor and gearbox assembly is completed in less than five minutes.

Previously, after entering their requirements in terms of alignment, support, stroke, load and other attributes, users of the tool received a CAD-capable, three-dimensional model and a parts list ready to order. However, achieving this result required extensive and sometimes time-consuming navigation. By using modern online technologies to update the product configurators, this time is now reduced.

Real-time customization
With the new navigation concept, users now make all selection decisions in a single window. As soon as a parameter is entered, the system recalculates and immediately shows the effect on the available options. Unlimited changes can be made without having to navigate to another page. Once the choice has been made and confirmed, the user immediately receives the complete parts list, including ordering information.

System designers who already know which products they need will benefit from faster, more intuitive filtering and comparison functions. It's now easier to filter products by the attributes that have the biggest impact on calculations: be it housing type, preferred material or environmental strength. Or you can simply enter part numbers and immediately receive the corresponding parts list. To further narrow down the selection, comparison tables can be used, in which the possible solutions are sorted according to variables such as safety factor and service life.
