Welding fume extraction

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Healthy air during welding

Welding produces fumes and gases that are hazardous to health. Extraction is necessary to comply with the occupational exposure limits and is even mandatory when welding high-alloy steels.

Al-Ko Extraction Technology offers four series of filter systems, one of which is a combined unit with heat recovery for exhaust air ducting. All systems extract fumes produced directly at the welding point via extraction arms and hoods and clean the air via cartridge filters. The devices in the Clean Unit series are mobile welding fume filters, while those in the Flex Unit series are central extraction systems that are suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation. In addition to the standard units, Al-Ko also offers customized solutions for the Flex-Unit series. All units work with IE3 motors and are optionally available with IE4 motors. The Clean Unit F W3 allows the cleaned air to be returned to the work area, even when welding high-alloy steels.
