AI-supported quality inspection with robots
Manual quality inspection in industry is often strenuous and error-prone. The Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Design IEM presents a universally applicable solution for this.
Together with the ATM manufacturer Diebold Nixdorf and the software specialist Verlinked, a combination of cobot, AI-based image analysis and IoT platform was developed in the it's OWL project "CogeP". The system relieves employees of the task of visual inspection and can be integrated into any inspection scenario, such as checking the quality of ATM control panels. The sensor-supported robotic arm guides a camera over the components or workpieces to be analyzed from several angles. The AI-supported image evaluation analyzes the quality, then the robot guides the camera over the next product.
