The Kuka.DeviceConnector makes it possible to communicate with a cloud without the need for additional hardware. It is available alongside other digital products in the my.Kuka customer portal.

Robots provide a wealth of valuable data. The Kuka.DeviceConnector converts this data into the structured, standardized OPC UA data model and communicates with the edge or the on-premise cloud via OPC UA.

In addition, the Kuka.DeviceConnector can also communicate directly with the cloud via MQTT (Message Queuing Telemetry Transport) without additional hardware. The information flow can be customized for specific use cases. Experts work with the customer to determine which data is required and configure the software to meet their requirements.

The information in cloud applications can then be analyzed and processed in order to be used for specific applications such as asset management, communication, troubleshooting, condition monitoring or diagnostics.

Thanks to the integrated point-to-point encryption (P2PE), the DeviceConnector meets the highest security standards. Since the beginning of 2020, it has been pre-installed on all robot controllers for newly delivered robots. This means that a connection to the Kuka Cloud and in-depth data analysis are possible at any time. The software can also be retrofitted to all KR-C4 robot controllers.
