Stauff expands international locations

Stauff invests in its own pipe bending centers worldwide. In Sheffield, England, the design of complex piping systems and the processing of pipes has been part of day-to-day business for 30 years.

The subsidiaries in Russia, India and Brazil have also been equipped with the high-tech tube bending machines in recent years. The center in the United States followed in early 2019. The companies in Italy, China, Korea and Australia have been offering the processing of pipes for years in some cases. Capacities in Russia are currently being expanded and further production sites are planned in Europe and Asia.

The internationally active manufacturer is thus consistently developing its concept of scalable services for hydraulic lines, Stauff Line: "By integrating ready-to-connect pipes into pre-assembled assemblies in more and more countries, we are relieving OEMs of further complex steps in their manufacturing processes," says Jörg Deutz, CEO of the Stauff Group, explaining the strategy.

The tube bending machines can bend tubes in all common materials and designs, with diameters of 6 to 50.8 mm and wall thicknesses of 1 to 4.5 mm, into highly complex shapes. Components such as nuts and cutting rings can be assembled by machine and pipe ends can be prepared by flanging or forming to accommodate pipe connections. Other work steps include welding and soldering connecting parts with subsequent coating or surface finishing. The pre-assembly of other system components such as clamps, flanges, ball valves and manifolds - all developed and manufactured in-house - is also carried out directly at Stauff. The ready-to-assemble pipelines are combined into assemblies and modules and delivered to the machine and plant manufacturer's assembly line mounted on shadowboards or A-frames.

Procurement costs and stock levels for individual components are reduced, efficiency and safety are increased thanks to shorter installation times and the avoidance of installation errors, and the comprehensive responsibility for entire cable sections from connection to connection is transferred to a single manufacturer.

The model for all locations is the global competence center for tube processing at the Group's British subsidiary. In order to be able to produce consistently high-quality results worldwide, all branches are equipped with the same high-tech tube bending machines as those used here. They are networked with each other via a cloud application so that production parameters, which may have been determined at Stauff UK, can be transferred from machine to machine.

"Instead of a long learning process, we focus on the transfer of knowledge from our experienced British colleagues to our global locations," says Jörg Deutz. "However, close international cooperation is a huge advantage, especially for companies that operate globally. They can rely on obtaining 100% identical, high-quality cable modules worldwide. We guarantee this both as a full-liner, which works exclusively with components from our own production, and as the owner of highly competent tube bending centers."
