Pfeiffer Vacuum at the Achema 2024
Safe pumps for potentially explosive atmospheres
Pfeiffer Vacuum will be presenting innovative vacuum solutions at Achema 2024 in Frankfurt am Main. This year, the company is placing a special focus on safe vacuum generation in potentially explosive environments and the evacuation of explosive gases.
There is a risk of explosion wherever combustible dusts, gases or vapors are produced or used. To ensure the protection of people working in potentially explosive areas, the pumps used there must be safe and must not have any effective ignition sources. The Okta Atex Roots pumps and the HiScroll Atex scroll pumps from Pfeiffer Vacuum are the right solutions for this.
Explosion protection: highest requirements met
In accordance with the European ATEX Directive (2014/34/EU or 1999/92/EC) and by complying with the pressure surge resistance according to PN 16, the Okta Atex Roots pumps meet the highest requirements for explosion protection. The hermetically sealed magnetic coupling on the drive shaft prevents zone entrainment.
The areas of application range from the chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries to industrial applications such as vacuum furnaces or heat treatment. Depending on the application, you can choose between device category 2G and 3G. All pumps are suitable for temperature class T3.
Thanks to the variable differential pressure and the wide usable speed range, the Okta can be used universally. All pumps can be used in ambient temperatures from -20 °C to +40 °C. Thanks to their magnetic coupling, they are hermetically sealed and achieve extremely low leakage rates of 10-6 Pam3/s. Shaft seals, which are weak points in the event of pressure surges and are high-maintenance, are no longer required. Compared to pumps with shaft seals, the Okta's magnetic coupling ensures up to 20% lower operating costs and significantly reduced maintenance costs.
