Pulse valves

Single air blast with high peak pressure

SMC has redesigned its impulse valves. The manufacturer now offers the new JSXFA series models for all users who want to develop maximum force with a single blast of air. They develop a high peak pressure while consuming minimal amounts of air.

Wherever a single, powerful blast of air is needed in the production process, the JSXFA series impulse valves come into their own: According to SMC, they feature a 15 percent improvement in peak pressure while reducing compressed air consumption by a third. At the same time, the response time has been reduced by almost half compared to previous models and the service life has been increased to 10 million cycles.

The JSXFA range of pneumatically controlled pulse valves comprises three connection sizes: 3/4", 1" and 11/2". With the help of an extremely durable elastomer diaphragm, SMC engineers have succeeded in designing the valves to be springless. This not only increases the service life. Over 10 million cycles without maintenance or replacement naturally also reduce costs. The JSXFA pulse valves can be fitted using a clamp connection, which makes them extremely quick to install. However, for those who do not want this, the range also includes model variants in the classic threaded design.

"Thanks to the high peak pressure with very low air consumption, the new pulse valves are suitable for any application where a powerful blast of air is required," explains Olaf Hagelstein, Product Manager at SMC Germany. The SMC innovation expert sees the cleaning of filter elements as the most important area of application. A high pressure pulse is crucial for effective cleaning and removal of the finest particles. "But of course, the pulse valves are also perfect for sorting out any transport goods in the production process using an air blast," he adds. "More performance with lower energy consumption is ultimately a compelling argument for any industry. All blow-off and cleaning applications benefit from this."

Suitable for cold environments
The pulse valves in the JSXFA series can also be used in extremely low temperatures. From -40 to +60 °C, the valves work without problems in any compressed air system. SMC recommends an operating pressure range between 0.1 and 0.9 MPa. If a pilot valve is connected, make sure that the valve cross-section is between 5 and 10 mm. Only then is perfect functioning guaranteed.
