Diameter of four to six millimeters
Tiny interchangeable head drill for micro sizes
Iscar offers what it describes as the world's smallest replaceable head drill from the Sumo Cham series in diameters of four to six millimetres, which is suitable for the reliable machining of micro sizes.
The replaceable drill heads are made from the titanium aluminum nitride (TiAlN) PVD-coated nano cutting material grade IC908. This makes them particularly wear-resistant and gives users a long service life. Iscar supplies an ergonomic wrench with each drill head for replacing the tiny bits, the special design of which makes assembly simple - there are no set-up times. Each drill head can therefore simply be turned onto the drill body.
The tool allows a bore tolerance of IT10 and should therefore ensure very good machining results. The tool body is made of high-strength steel, which ensures smooth running and holes with very good surface quality. The drill with a cylindrical shank has internal cooling, which is particularly efficient in the machining zone. This ensures that the tool can be used for a long time. Iscar offers the micro version for drilling depths of 3xD and 5xD. The shank has a small diameter and is suitable for collet chucks and sliding headstock automatic lathes. The replaceable drill heads are said to show their strengths particularly in ISO P, M and K materials.
