CBN grooving plates

Andrea Gillhuber,

Grooving system for hard machining

Horn is expanding its 315 grooving system with a single-edged, CBN-tipped grooving insert. In conjunction with the tool holders, it ensures high rigidity. To transfer the cutting pressure into the holder, the insert seat offers a large contact surface; the clamping screw is located centrally.

The cutting material CBN is considered the second hardest material. In contrast to diamond, this cutting material can also be used to machine ferrous materials, as no carbon diffusion takes place during machining. The tool manufacturer is therefore targeting hard machining with this system.

The grooving plates are available in grooving widths from 1 to 3 mm, the holder range is available in monoblock design and as a cassette system for HSK-T and PSC holders.
