Efficient processing of aluminum
Sandvik Coromant is expanding its range of universal CoroMill Dura solid carbide end mills to include tools for machining aluminum. The end mills are characterized by stable machining, low burr formation, good surface quality and minimal vibrations.
They offer flexible performance for all roughing operations with simultaneous finishing capability. With the same tool, full slot milling up to 2×D, pocket milling, angled plunging with 5° to 20° and corner milling are possible, among others. With WhisperKut technology, each flute is carefully aligned and at different distances from the others. In addition, each flute of the Helix is given a specific helix angle to effectively interrupt harmful harmonics. The design prevents vibrations for quiet, safe and efficient machining.
The standard range includes diameters from 2 to 25 mm, cutting depths from 1.5 to 3×D, various shank options, milling cutters with extended overhang length and sharp corner radii. Tailor-made options include coated grades for particularly abrasive aluminum grades as well as special diameters, corner radii and shank options. To facilitate tool selection, the CoroPlus Tool Guide for CoroMill Dura provides recommendations for tools and cutting data.
