Carbide
Processing difficult materials
In response to high customer demand, Ceratizit is now also offering raw bars with two twisted cooling channels in the high-performance grade CTS24Z from stock.
According to the manufacturer, the carbide grade is suitable for machining difficult materials such as titanium and corrosion-resistant alloys for high-temperature applications. With almost the same hardness as the CTS18D and CTS20D grades, CTS24Z is said to have a higher crack resistance. In everyday production, this means a high level of protection against chipping and stable tool performance. This makes the new ultra-fine grain grade suitable for the high demands placed on tool systems for the aviation industry in particular.
According to the company, comparative tests for machining the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V, which is particularly common in the aviation industry and medical technology, have shown that the tool life can be increased by using CTS24Z compared to conventional carbide grades.
Raw and ground solid bars and milling cutter blanks in CTS24Z have been available from stock since EMO 2017. The Ceratizit Group is now further expanding its stock program for CTS24Z with the raw rods with two twisted cooling channels. Tool manufacturers can order the products as usual via the company's e-tech store and receive orders placed by 6.30 p.m. by 12.00 a.m. on the next working day. sw
