AMB 2018
Drilling with indexable inserts and large chip channels
Komet and Ceratizit are presenting the KUB100, the first jointly developed indexable insert drill, at the AMB.
When designing the basic body, the developers used the finite element method, or FEM for short, and were thus able to realize large chip channels without significant losses in rigidity or strength, the company said in a press release. The combination of the indexable insert contour with a revised chip breaker geometry resulted in optimized chip control when drilling various materials. The KUB100 will be available from AMB 2018 in a length/diameter ratio of 3 × D and in diameters from 14 to 27 mm.
The precision tool manufacturer Komet was integrated into the Ceratizit Group in October last year. At the AMB in Stuttgart, Ceratizit, Komet, WNT and Klenk will be presenting themselves as a group of companies and full-service provider for all areas of machining. ag
