5-axis milling-turning center
5-axis machining center for complex workpieces
The Umill 1500 5-axis milling/turning center is the latest machine in the Umill series from Emco Mecof, Italian manufacturer of vertical portal milling machines and horizontal traveling column machines since 1947.
Just in time for the leading trade fair for the machine tool industry, the manufacturer will be presenting the next model at EMO, the new Umill 1500, a compact 5-axis milling/turning center for the complete machining of complex workpieces in a single set-up, which is intended for use in tool and mould making, general mechanical engineering, contract manufacturing and the aerospace industry. With the expansion of the series, the company is responding to the demand for compact 5-axis machining centers with automation that offer high performance in terms of power and accuracy.
With a traverse path of 1,500 x 1,500 x 1,100 mm and a milling head newly developed by Mecof, the Umill has good performance values: With a milling power of 45 kW (S1), a torque of 300 Nm (S1) and 12,000 rpm, the compact machine structure consisting of a cast steel construction with ball screws and linear roller guides, optimized with FEM analysis, can achieve convincing results in terms of stability and rigidity with high dynamics and precision at the same time. The fully NC-controlled rotary table supports the handling of complex machining tasks and can hold workpieces of up to 4.5 tons.
The automatic tool changing system has a maximum of 203 places. With the Heidenhain iTNC 640 HSCI and the Siemens 840D sl, the customer can choose between two state-of-the-art control worlds, which also cover the functions of energy saving and integrated safety management. am
