Tool holder systems
Smart squared
Schunk launches the iTendo 2 intelligent tool holder.
It is more compact, more powerful and offers more application options than its predecessor iTendo. Due to its reduced design, it can replace standard tool holders on a one-to-one basis and therefore also evaluate series activities.
The iTendo 2 notices when something is wrong with the machining process. For example, if vibrations are too high, chatter marks occur or a tool is about to break. Equipped with a sensor, battery and transmitter unit, the tool holder detects vibrations directly on the tool.
If the condition of the cutting edge or tool changes, it can react in real time thanks to the closed control loop and prevent damage to the workpiece or tool. With its increased speed of up to 30,000 rpm , it can be used for a wide range of applications in the aerospace, glass processing, automotive and medical technology industries.
