Machine Vision" conference in Baden-Baden

The VDI conference "Machine Vision - From Inspection to Smart Revolution" on June 17-18, 2026 in Baden-Baden will provide a comprehensive practical insight into current applications of machine vision. One focus will be on the use of AI and the use of synthetically generated data to accelerate training processes.

Powerful cameras and innovative software ecosystems based on artificial intelligence (AI) give machines, robots and mobile platforms the ability to see without fatigue, assess operational situations, detect hazards and errors and navigate without collisions. In this way, they have been contributing to considerable productivity gains and seamless quality control in automated production systems for some time now, without slowing down the production cycle.

The use of artificial intelligence methods in particular is currently marking a transition to smart machine vision. Cameras in machines not only give them the ability to see, but also enable perception as the basis for autonomous and intelligent process control in modern systems.

Parallel to the VDI conference "Automation 2026" in Baden-Baden, the VDI will be addressing the AI revolution in optical inspection for the second time with the "Machine Vision" conference, following the launch of the series last year.

"At the top of the agenda of our conference is, of course, the trending topic of artificial intelligence and the use of synthetically generated data with the help of digital twins in automation, robotics and industrial image processing," reports conference director Prof. Dr. Markus Glück from Aalen University. "We have bundled 18 lectures into six interesting topic sessions, in which a comprehensive insight into current technological developments will be provided and real application examples as well as innovative camera technologies and software tools will be presented," explains Glück. Experts from the following companies and start-ups are among the speakers: Audi, Basler, Cognex, EVT Eye Vision Technology, IDS, Intrinsic, Lucid Vision Labs, Micro-Epsilon, MVTec Software, Nvidia, preML, Sick, Viscom, VMT and Wenglor. There will also be contributions from current research at Fraunhofer IPA and Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.

The first day of the conference will start with a keynote from Nvidia. Wilfried Rakow, Developer Relations Manager from Santa Clara (USA), will give a keynote speech on the topic of "Visual AI agents for industrial image processing applications".
