"Germany and Europe must step up the pace of robotics-based automation: In particular, the increased use of artificial intelligence will enable growth and make a sustainable contribution to increasing the competitiveness of our region. We also need to leverage the potential of new applications in industries that have been less automated to date. I am looking forward to actively participating in the VDMA's Robotics + Automation Board in order to advance these topics," says Dr. Michael Jürgens about his new role.

With this appointment, Dr. Michael Jürgens succeeds Wilfried Eberhardt (most recently Vice President Governmental Affairs, Kuka AG), who stepped down from the R+A Executive Board for statutory reasons. At the VDMA European Robotics and Automation Summit in Bologna in October 2025, Wilfried Eberhardt was honored for his many years of intensive commitment to the Executive Board of the trade association and other VDMA committees.
