Electric drives

LEF and LEY series with additional size

Solutions often need to be developed for tight spaces or compact machine designs. To meet such requirements even better, SMC has now added size 16 to its LEY series electric cylinders and LEF series electric spindle drives.

Users benefit from an additionally optimized space requirement for applications with low payloads and, thanks to the battery-free absolute encoder, can restart production even after a sudden stop from the current position.

In the LEF#16 series electric drives, which are equipped with either a belt or ball screw drive, the motor can be installed straight or parallel on the right or left. Strokes between 50 and 500 mm and stroke ranges between 500 and 1,200 mm are possible in steps of 50 mm. With a horizontal payload of 14 kg or a vertical payload of 2 kg, speeds of between 10 and 700 mm/s are available. With a horizontal payload of 15 kg or a vertical payload of 4 kg, the speed is between 5 and 360 mm/s. The maximum acceleration is 3,000 mm/s2 in each case. As with the previously available installation sizes 25, 32 and 40, the new size 16 also has shock absorbers, which ensure that workpieces are transported evenly at high speeds. The positioning repeatability is already ±0.02 mm in the basic version - in the precision version it reaches ±0.015 mm (with pitch ±0.02 mm).
