Linear bearing made of solid plastic

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Fast and lubricant-free movements

Igus has presented its first Drylin W linear bearing, which is made entirely of tribo-polymers. The bearing was specially developed for light linear movements. Weighing only 10 g, it is well suited for transportable applications.

It is quick to install, vibration-damping and lubricant-free. It is cost-effective thanks to its injection-molded production. The injection-moulding-optimized design also reduces the weight, which reduces the drive energy required.

The linear bearing foil and the linear housing are combined in one component. Due to the low weight, less mass needs to be moved, which reduces force, motor power and energy consumption. The bearing in size 10 is made of the high-performance plastic Iglidur JB. The black material is characterized by low friction values in dry running and a very low stick-slip tendency. Even loads of up to 25 N are no problem for the plastic bearing.
