pro-beam enters the additive manufacturing market
Pro-beam, a company in the field of electron beam technology, is tapping into the additive manufacturing market. The subsidiary pro-beam additive is currently developing two 3D printing processes for industrial applications.
The basis for the additive manufacturing of metal components is the company's own electron beam technology, which uses different processes: wire deposition welding and electron beam melting within a powder bed. The powder bed process is designed for components with filigree structures, while the use of wire is used in particular for large components.
"With the new additive area, we not only want to position ourselves more broadly for the future, but also provide our customers with real added value in terms of the productivity of the AM process," says Dr. Thorsten Löwer, CTO at pro-beam. Thanks to its many years of expertise in the electron beam business, the company sees itself as a development partner when it comes to efficient manufacturing processes. The company already supports international research and development institutes with its prototype systems. "We are convinced that partnerships and a close exchange within the industry will further advance additive manufacturing processes and allow them to be adapted even more closely to the needs of customers and the market," adds Löwer.
Additive manufacturing consistently complements the existing business areas of welding, hardening, micro-drilling and coating. The company will be providing initial insights into developments in the field of additive manufacturing at Formnext Connect.
