Foam for industrial use

Sabic is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of PP-UMS, a new family of polypropylenes with ultra-high melt strength. PP-UMS offers a melt strength of over 65 cN. According to the manufacturer, it is suitable for use as a base material for developing new foam solutions with unprecedented lightweight construction potential in all kinds of industrial sectors, targeting lightweight construction applications in the automotive, packaging and building materials industries.

Sabic is presenting a new high-impact filament for additive manufacturing at Formnext 2017.

The manufacturer's increased focus on foam technology extends across the entire value chain and is supported by a specialized global marketing team for the targeted and rapid implementation of suitable solutions as well as a wide range of foam plastics. The foamability of PP-UMS was tested at the company's Foam Innovation Center (FIC) in the Netherlands. The center has processing capacities for most common foaming techniques and state-of-the-art analysis technology. sw
