Tribo SLS powder exceeds fire protection standard
Suitable materials and appropriate design measures are required to prevent fires in vehicle interiors. Igus has introduced the 3D printing material Iglidur I3 for optimum fire protection. The tribo-polymer material is suitable for selective laser sintering and is extremely abrasion-resistant. I3 has passed the firing test in accordance with FMV SS 302. In the tests, the measured calorific value was around five times lower than the maximum permissible limit.
The Iglidur I3 components achieve extremely high strength. Laser sintering also requires practically no reworking of the finished parts. Very complex shapes and high component accuracy for moving applications are possible. In the test laboratory, the parts were three times more abrasion-resistant than the comparison materials in both swivel and rotational as well as linear movement. Igus also offers a 3D printing service. Customers can have their components printed and delivered in a short space of time. am
