Steel production at crisis level in 2025: demand weak, import pressure high. Association head Rippel calls for 2026 to be the year to secure the location.
Economically efficient production is crucial for a company's profitability. In the case of metal cutting, safe and predictable processes and production environments are crucial: firstly, to ensure maximum production output in the long term, and secondly, to keep production costs as low as possible.

Hoffmann has expanded the Garant Master product family for high-performance machining to include milling cutters for high-alloy stainless steels in accordance with ISO M.

Karl Haider takes over the role of Chief Commercial Officer for the European business units of Tata Steel. He succeeds Henrik Adam, who was appointed CEO of Tata Steel in Europe in June.
Powder for additive manufacturing

In the NRW lead market project AddSteel, new, functionally adapted steel materials for additive manufacturing will be developed over the next three years. A central component of the project is the qualification of the developed materials for the metallic 3D printing process Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT in Aachen.

Digital production environment
PSI has been commissioned by the Slovenian steel producer SIJ Group to implement a new digital manufacturing environment. PSImetals 5.18 will replace two legacy systems in the steel mill and in further processing.

Fronius Perfect is expanding its TPS/i welding machine platform with the Steel Edition version, which has been designed for manual welding of steel. The modular welding systems have different steel characteristics for both standard and pulsed arcs.
