Steel producer relies on PSI for digital transformation
PSI Metals was commissioned by SIJ - Slovenian Steel Group and its subsidiary SIJ Metal Ravne with the implementation of the PSImetals modules Production, Quality, Order Dressing, Order Scheduling and Line Scheduling. PSImetals 5.18 will replace two legacy systems in the steel mill and in further processing.
The aim of the project is to replace the ageing production systems and create a new digital production environment at SIJ Metal Ravne, the second largest steel plant in the SIJ Group. The project includes order-related production planning, quality control of the technological and production process, as well as certification and administration of warehouse management.
"The project reflects our digital manufacturing strategy and will enable the development of a fully integrated digital manufacturing architecture," says Vladimir Arshinov, CIO of SIJ Group, and adds: "We are considering extending the digital manufacturing architecture to other plants in the Group."
SIJ Group expects that the implementation of the PSImetals system will significantly improve key performance indicators (KPIs) so that new markets can be opened up for SIJ Metals Ravne. SIJ Group's IT team will work together with PSI experts from Graz, Austria, so that configuration work and application maintenance can be carried out independently in the future. The project will start in September 2019 and is expected to go live within 18 months.
