abas user survey

Mara Hofacker,

What makes German SMEs tick when it comes to business software?

This year, abas is once again presenting the results of its customer survey. Over 500 companies took part in the survey, which provides information on trend topics such as the cloud, enterprise software and the new abas Marketplace. Not only companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part - customers in the USA and Canada were also surveyed at the same time.

The results show that SMEs are still divided when it comes to software applications from the cloud. For example, 35% of the companies surveyed in the DACH region categorically reject cloud services - compared to 64% in 2015. However, according to the latest study, a large majority are considering using the cloud. Users make this dependent on conditions: 42% of users can only consider cloud applications if all security concerns are eliminated. 27% would like to use functions from the cloud, but make it dependent on price and rental conditions. 24 percent are prepared to use cloud solutions if they offer new functions or application scenarios. Functions such as "working from home with access to all required applications", "emails and communication" and "classic application software such as Office 365" are at the top of the list for abas customers in the DACH region. The study participants in the USA and Canada see things differently, as their preferred cloud applications are "CRM and sales" and "business intelligence and analysis", also followed by "classic application software such as Office 365".

There was more agreement among respondents about the use of the new abas Web Client. 79 percent in DACH and 72 percent in the USA and Canada can imagine using it, 40 percent of them if they could use it without a cloud installation. The 2018 user study also asked about the new abas Marketplace. As a result, 71% of users would like additional ERP functionalities. 66% hope that the marketplace, which was launched at the end of September 2018, will enable new applications to be easily integrated into abas ERP. 51% would like interfaces and APIs to machines.

Another result of the current user survey is the stable customer satisfaction, which is at the same level as in previous years despite the many new challenges of digital transformation, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. 17% of users are "very satisfied" with abas ERP, 58% are "somewhat satisfied" and 20% are "partially satisfied".
