Simulation solution improves quality
Simufact has released a simulation solution for Direct Energy Deposition (DED) to improve the quality of such metal-based additive manufacturing processes.
DED is offered as a module of Simufact Welding 2020. It can be used to automatically set up robust DED simulation models by importing toolpaths directly from G-code. The software determines the stresses, strains, distortions, temperature curves and hotspots that will occur during production, indicates where the distortions are out of tolerance and recommends compensation. Based on this, the user can adjust the G-code to optimize the DED printing process.
Areas of application include repair and restoration, but also the production of new large metal parts that would not be possible with powder bed fusion.
