New versions of electromagnetics software

Altair has released the 2018 versions of its leading electromagnetics (EM) simulation software solutions FEKO®, WinProp®, Flux® and FluxMotor®.

These electromagnetic solver tools, included in Altair's HyperWorks®, The Platform for Innovation™, are widely used in the automotive, aerospace, defense, communications, consumer electronics, energy and medical industries to accelerate design processes.

"We are very excited about the release of the latest versions of our electromagnetics software tools, which will support our customers in the development of new products for e-mobility, communications, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things. The range of applications covers electromagnetic issues across the entire frequency spectrum, from DC to THz, and is integrated into Altair's multiphysics modeling environment for multidisciplinary system optimization," said Ulrich Jakobus, Senior VP for EM Solutions at Altair.

The extensive functions in the 2018 versions of HyperWorks simulation solutions for electromagnetics expand functionality, simplify workflows and improve the user experience. For example, a new workflow has been integrated into FEKO 2018 that simplifies the characterization of multilayer dielectrics. This means that transmission loss and deviations from the main beam direction for arbitrarily shaped radomes can be calculated more efficiently and with greater flexibility than ever before. Another example is the new features in Flux 2018 with new ways to simplify CAD geometries and meshing, improved workflows, increased flexibility and the ability to calculate 3D models faster by utilizing HPC resources.

The long-term user of Flux, Valeo, is a leading supplier to the automotive industry in the e-mobility sector. "After a short online presentation, I was able to connect my Flux project to the HyperStudy optimization software and received my first results within 30 minutes. I was very positively surprised," notes Jean-Claude Mipo, Advanced Technology Manager at Valeo.
